Ability Community Resources
Hello, I am Samantha Strickland, Founder and CEO of Ability Community Resources a non-profit company pending 501(c)3 Status. I founded Ability Community Resources after years of working with members of the community in direct delivery of mental health services. During my years working with the community I found an ever-growing need for entities whose sole purpose was to assist individuals in times of need, to assist them in regaining their independence and financial stability in a judgment free, understanding, compassionate and educational way.
It is the mission of Ability Community Resources to:
To assist our community and its members in their time of need through various avenues of self-empowerment, education, connection with resources and avenues towards sustainable independence. It is our belief that every person has value and is deserving of assistance with compassion and without judgment in their time of need.
We are currently seeking donations of the following items:
What we would like to do:
To start we would like to be able to take in donations of clothing, personal care items, household items and non-perishable food stuffs for members of the community who lack the ability to obtain these items through personal purchase.
Additionally, we hope to be able to provide backpacks of school supplies to children in need, as well as assist in helping families in need obtain gifts for their children at Christmas time.
Obtain space for a community garden so community members can benefit from the food items grown while contributing in a meaningful way to their own needs.
In the future:
We would like to be able to offer assistance in helping members of the community access medical care through either a community health event or “medical/mental health care” grant amount. To work with mental health counseling interns in providing services for the community.
We would like to be able to offer assistance to members of the community in paying for utilities and or emergency housing.
One of our dreams is to eventually have a multi-unit complex of safe and affordable housing for community members.
To offer educational information and opportunities of various types.
